On classic vehicles in particular, lead-acid batteries are only used occasionally, so they fail very quickly. In addition, there are problems with the escaping gases, which are very aggressive and attack the paint. Even more disastrous is the so-called boiling of the lead-acid battery, during which sulfuric acid inevitably escapes. Even small amounts destroy paint, chrome and clothing. This is a catastrophe especially after a successful restoration with new paint and chrome. We therefore recommend maintenance-free and gas-tight gel batteries, with which these problems cannot occur.
